Dr. Satishchandra Ogale

Dr. Satishchandra B. Ogale is an internationally acclaimed materials scientist and energy researcher, currently serving as Director of the Research Institute for Sustainable Energy (RISE) at TCG-CREST and Adjunct Professor Emeritus at IISER Pune. Over a distinguished career spanning four decades, he has made transformative contributions to advanced functional materials, energy storage, and sustainable technologies, with an h-index of 90 and over 39,000 citations. His work is notable for seamlessly bridging fundamental science with real-world applications, reflected in multiple US patents and impactful translational research. Beyond research, he has played a pivotal role in building interdisciplinary programs, mentoring over 65 PhD scholars, and shaping global scientific collaborations in energy and materials science, establishing him as a key figure in driving innovation at the intersection of science, technology, and sustainability.

Dr. Satishchandra Ogale is the Director of the Research Institute for Sustainable Energy (RISE), TCG-CREST, Kolkata and Emeritus Professor of Physics at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune. He is also a Sr. Advisor, R & D for MIT WPU, Pune.​

In addition, Prof. Ogale has been associated with globally recognized scientific honours such as the TWAS (The World Academy of Sciences) award, which is conferred on outstanding researchers from developing countries for their contributions to science and technology. He is the he is the 16th Indian physicist to receive this prestigious honour since its inception 39 years ago. The TWAS awards are highly selective, with only a limited number of scientists worldwide being recognized each year across disciplines, making it one of the most prestigious international acknowledgements for scientific excellence in the developing world.

CNR Rao Lecture Prize (2021)

Awarded the prestigious CNR Rao Lecture Prize by the Materials Research Society of India (MRSI), conferred annually to a single materials scientist in the country for outstanding contributions to materials research.
